Compassion has the power to transform the world one person at a time.

1 Timothy 1:13

I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and an arrogant man, but I have been mercifully treated because I acted out of ignorance in my unbelief.

Before his conversion…St. Paul (known as “Saul” at the time) was basically a terrorist.

He thought wiping out the new followers of Jesus was his calling.

He thought God liked what he was doing.

Paul looked on approvingly at the stoning of the first Christian martyr.

He led the persecution of Christians.

And what was God’s response to Saul? Mercy and forgiveness.

Well…how else would Love respond?

And because of this response, Paul was transformed. He became perhaps the greatest Christian evangelist and missionary ever.

How many more potential “St. Pauls” are living today?

Who will be the one who risks responding to hate…with love?

On the cross Jesus forgave the most unjust act ever thereby transforming it into the most loving act in history.

May each of us be inspired to become ambassadors of mercy…not revenge.
