2 Corinthians 3:4

Such confidence we have through Christ toward God.

St. Paul knew the love of God through the risen Christ.

The God of legalism and punishment was the God Paul use to believe in when he was known as Saul…a man who persecuted Christians in the name of God.

But everything changed after his mystical encounter with the risen Christ on the road to Damascus when he was transformed.

Over time…Saul became known as Paul…a man who believed in a God of grace and forgiveness. His encounter with Christ came when he was least worthy…when he was persecuting Christians.

Forgiveness and Unconditional Love changed him.

Jesus showed each of us how to live…responding to persecution with love…even while hanging on the cross when he forgave those who had crucified him.

This is the reality of who God is.

God is love (1 John 4:8) and love drives out fear.

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment, and so one who fears is not yet perfect in love.” (1 John 4:18)

It is the risen Christ who gives us this confidence!

This is reason to rejoice!
