The darkness of hate dissolves in the radiance of love.
Hear my words, O Lord; listen to my sighing. Hear my cry for help, my king, my God!
Sometimes we are overwhelmed by painful situations.
They are out of our control.
We feel helpless.
It is part of the human condition.
However…have you noticed how a Great Compassion rises from the pain and sorrow?
When tragedies occur through the choices of misguided and delusional people…a Great Love rises and overwhelms the hate and violence.
I suggest that this is God’s Presence with us.
Jesus said if you know him…then you also know God (John 8:19). He modeled God’s intimate connection with the human condition by going through all of life’s struggles and sufferings…even enduring the most humiliating and unjust death…to show us that death does not win.
God is hurting with us in our pain…struggling with us in our struggles…and laughing with us in our joys.
It sometimes appears that God is not there when tragedies strike.
Jesus no doubt felt that when he cried out on the cross, “Why have you forsaken me?”
But God did not abandon Jesus. Death did not win at the crucifixion.
The resurrection followed and showed us that despite all the pain and suffering…love wins. It has in the past…is now…and always will.
God is love. Let this Love console and comfort you…strengthen and inspire you.
