Kingdom of God

What if all our thoughts, words and actions were filtered through love?

Acts 1:3

He presented himself alive to them by many proofs after he had suffered, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.

Jesus’ resurrection changed everything.

It meant that death did not have the final say.

Love wins. It had overcome the crucifixion.

The resurrection validated Jesus’ mission to bring glad tidings to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives, recovery of sight to the blind and let the oppressed go free (Luke 4:18)…in other words: to bring about the “kingdom of God.”

This kingdom is the state of being that Jesus modeled in how he lived his life.

The keys to the “kingdom” of which Jesus spoke are love, mercy, forgiveness and compassion…not power, prestige, wealth and domination.

Each of us is called to cooperate in the building of this kingdom.

Whose kingdom are you building through the way you are living your life:

God’s or yours?

  1. Very good article, but how does one deal with the sin that is running so free in America today, are we to ignore it.

Perhaps if we did a better job of building God’s kingdom…loving our enemies as Jesus commanded us…those engaged in self-centered, non-life-giving behavior, would be transformed? No easy answer…but I know Jesus said that the bottom line was to love God and your neighbor as yourself.

  2. Your answer of love is quite evident, but when one sees structures for Church building so big today and when people need help, and nothing is done they have a right to question, is there a God?

We, the Church, have failed as we remain in our little comfort zone and not willing to get one’s hands dirty. Having spent the last nine years in China, I have seen, services with hundreds of people present with standing room only, and buildings with no heat or A/C. The Church in America, which has gotten too high and mighty for their own good, and this, is why sin is running rampant. Now that the LGBT has won in the area of marriage, at this moment in time, the Church decides so to speak out, too little too late. We have lost our ability to influence people and the government. Why?

We must first, humble ourselves before the Lord and seek Him, then He can change the hearts of man, but again we must be humble before Him.

Thank you for your response. I feel your passion for God. I agree that we have forgotten the example of Jesus in reaching out to those in need. The pope was spot-on when he said that he wanted priests…as “shepherds”…to smell like the sheep! We all need to be out among those in need. God’s love will win out. God’s plan is so far beyond us. God is at work. I believe everything will work for the good. We need to love…not judge. Perhaps God is trying to change each of us…if we’d drop all of our preconceived notions of being “right” and instead work to be in “right relationship” with everyone and all creation?
